To Copy Text:

  1. Highlight the text that you want to copy on a webpage. Do this by clicking and holding down the mouse, then dragging over the text you want to copy. Then release the mouse.
  2. From the EDIT menu at the top of the screen, choose COPY. The highlighted text has just been copied to the computer's "clipboard."
  3. Switch from your web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) into the application you want to paste text into (a word processor, an email program, PowerPoint, etc.)
    1. Windows users: Minimize the web browser (click on the "flat line" button in the upper right corner) and then launch the program you want to paste into. If it is already running, just click on its minimized tab at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Macintosh users: Click on the "application icon" in the upper right corner of your screen and choose to HIDE your web browser. Then launch the program you want to paste into. If it is already running, just select it from the list after clicking on the application icon.
  4. From the EDIT menu, choose PASTE.

To Copy Graphics:

  1. Move the mouse over the webpage picture you want to copy.
    1. Windows users: Click once with the RIGHT mouse button and choose COPY IMAGE. (This just works in Internet Explorer, not Netscape)
    2. Macintosh users: Click and HOLD DOWN the mouse button on tope of the image. When a popup menu appears, choose COPY IMAGE.
  2. Switch into the program you want to paste the graphic into (see #3 above)
  3. From the EDIT menu, choose PASTE.
